Akim of Almaty receives the World Bank Regional Director for Central Asia
During the meeting the head of Almaty noted the importance to enhance cooperation with the financial institution and emphasized the special status of Almaty as a financial center, which plays an important role in the economy of the country.
Yesimov also said that the city was implementing a number of important projects, in particular, on the development of engineering and transport infrastructure, improvement of the ecological environment, and innovative projects on the basis of the Special Economic Zone called "Innovation park "Alatau", the industrial zone is being mastered, and ski tourism is being developing.
In turn, the head of the World Bank Central Asia Saroj Kumar Jha expressed his hope for further collaboration.
"If you compare all five countries of Central Asia, most of our work comes from Kazakhstan. Our active investment into your country makes 3.5 billion dollars. The World Bank has a long history of working with major cities. We are happy to strengthen partnership with Almaty", said S.Kumar Jha.
In conclusion, the akim of Almaty and the World Bank officer discussed and identified priority areas for cooperation.
