Akim of North Kazakhstan region holds meeting on eve of World Water Day

PETROPAVLOVSK. March 21. KAZINFORM Akim of North Kazakhstan region Serik Bilyalov met with workers of water enterprises on the eve of the United Nations' World Water Day, which is celebrated annually on March 22.

Opening the meeting Bilyalov said "Kazakhstan does not stay aloof from the global problems of the world community. One of them is clean drinking water."

"Due to the constant growth of population and development of manufacturing the issues of environmental protection of water is coming to a head, so we have to protect our resources," akim of the region said.

The issue of providing quality drinking water is one of the priorities of the state policy. According to the akim, as a result of implementation of "Ak Bulak" Program 80 percent of the rural population will be provided with pure drinking water till 2020. During this period there will be carried out construction and reconstruction of more than 5000 kilometers of water pipelines.
