Akorda discussed preparations for celebrating 70th anniversary of Great Victory
ASTANA. KAZINFORM - Akorda has held a meeting of Secretary of State of the Republic of Kazakhstan Gulshara Abdykalikova and representatives of the Central Council of "Organization of veterans of the Republic of Kazakhstan" which discussed preparations for celebrations of the 70th anniversary of victory in the Great Patriotic War.
G.Abdykalikova noted that the Great Patriotic War involved 1.2 million Kazakhs. Hundreds of thousands of Kazakh soldiers were awarded orders and medals for military merit, some 500 people were awarded titles of "Hero of the Soviet Union", and 110 people were awarded orders of Glory of three degrees. During the war 630,000 people of Kazakhstan have died in battles, from wounds and diseases. Secretary of State reported that 4,776 war veterans and 192,980 war workers live in Kazakhstan. In turn, state officials reported on progress in provision of social, material and medical assistance to war veterans and home front workers.
