Al Farabi Kazakh National University marks its 90th anniversary

Today the Al Farabi Kazakh National University marks its 90th anniversary. State  Counsellor of Kazakhstan Erlan Karin congratulated the university on its anniversary on behalf of the Head of State, Kazinform News Agency reports.

In his congratulatory address, the Head of State said it is a landmark event for the country’s educational system and science.

The President said the Kazakh National University is one of the first higher educational establishments of Kazakhstan which boasts its own unique traditions. It ranks high in the international rankings.

The Head of State expressed sincere gratitude to the university teaching staff that works hard to bring up the growing generations, implanting thirst for knowledge, science and excellence peculiar to honest citizens.

Besides, Karin awarded the teachers and workers of the Al Farabi Kazakh National University the state awards on behalf of the Head of State.

The university was established on January 15, 1934. The first 54 students of the university are the students of the biology and physics and mathematics faculties who started education at the building of the former Vernenskaya men’s gymnasium.

It is worth reminding that the Presidents of Kazakhstan and Russia officially inaugurated branch of Al-Farabi Kazakh National University in Omsk.
