All settlements of Kazakhstan to be provided with drinking water by 2025

All the settlements of Kazakhstan will be fully provided with drinking water by 2025, Deputy Prime Minister Tamara Duissenova said at the plenary session of the Majilis today, Kazinform Agency reports.

In her words, 23.3 billion tenge were spent on implementation of 34 water supply projects in 158 rural settlements in 2023-2025.

The government plans to provide all the settlements of the country with drinking water by 2025, she noted.

According to her, an action plan aimed at water saving in irrigation was adopted. The plan aims at the reconstruction of  3,000 kilometers of irrigation networks, digitalization of  water use record  on 212 channels, and repair of 15 hydraulic structures.

“Nine new water reservoirs with the storage capacity of 1.7 cubic kilometers will be built in Zhambyl, Kyzylorda, Almaty, Akmola and West Kazakhstan region by 2025. 11 water reservoirs will be built in Aktobe, Kyzylorda, East Kazakhstan and Karaganda regions at the second stage of the project,” added Duissenova.
