Almaty Airport issues statement after snow delays

Almaty’s international airport has informed about the enhanced operation of its all services after heavy snowfall suspended several flights, Kazinform News Agency correspondent reports.

According to the Almaty Airport, a number of flights are to depart later than scheduled, as the city is pummeled by heavy snow and fog. Passengers of the flights delayed are provided with hot meals, snacks and beverages.

Aircraft de-icing is carried out under the requirements of the national legislation and recommendations of the US Federal Aviation Administration and the Transport Canada to ensure the safety of flights. The airport’s all services are operating in an enhanced mode, sparing no effort to minimize delays and return to normal, reads the statement of the Almaty airport’s corporate communications department.

The passengers were asked to check the current status of flights at the airport and airlines’ official websites prior to departure.

Earlier it was reported that several flights were delayed at the Almaty airport.
