Almaty discusses municipal mid-term development plan for 2009-2011

ALMATY. January 3. KAZINFORM /Aigul Turysbekova/ Draft plan of mid-term development of Almaty city for 2009-2011 was considered at the 14th session of the city maslikhat (local administration) in late December 2008, Kazinform correspondent reports.

Industrial-innovative projects, formation of Almaty as a financial centre and development of tourism and sport will remain priority spheres of the city development. First of the four stages of establishment of the IT-park will be completed by the end of 2011, implementation of about 20 innovation projects with the participation of development institutes will continue. Particular attention will be given to the development of the new Alatau district. According to head of Almaty department for economy and budget planning Larissa Vasilyeva, special attention will be paid to the social sphere development. Thus, the local and national budget means will be directed primarily to the construction of transport and communication facilities, development of heat and power complex, preparation for 2011 Winter Asian Games, healthcare and education. A number of measures on involvement of small and medium business to state purchases will be adopted. Maslikhat deputies discussed also realization of the 2007-2016 Program on energy saving technologies.
