Almaty gets ready for Winter Asian Games:city mayor

ALMATY. February 6. KAZINFORM /Daniyar Sikhimbayev/ The important event in the development of the city as a financial center became the opening of several large facilities and offices last year, Akim of Almaty city Akhmetzhan Yessimov has told about it today at the meeting with Almaty citizens, Kazinform correspondent reports.

According to the akim an active work was held in the city to involve specialists of financial and stock markets as well as institutional investors. The creation of high-mountain tourist-sports complex here is one of the basic projects. ?Reconstruction and modernization of the high-mountain skating-rink ?Medeu? and ski center ?Shymbulak?, as well as construction of the cable way with capacity of 2500 people per hour (one way) is underway. Construction of parking, cable way station, different sports facilities, ski-run, hotels and ecological park started in the city?, the Head of the city informed. ?These facilities are the basic complexes for forthcoming Winter Asian Games. Holding of the Asian Games in our city will enhance the development of tourism. The launch of six complexes with world brand and total accommodation of 1514 is expected this year?, A. Yessimov noted.
