Almaty hosts XXIII APMO and Silk Way X International Mathematical Olympiad

ALMATY. March 7. KAZINFORM /Sara Mustafina/ XXIII Asian Pacific Math Olympiad (APMO) and X International Mathematical Olympiad "Silk Way" kicked off in Almaty today. The events are organized by the Kazakh Ministry of Education and Science, Daryn Republican Scientific-Practical Centre and the al-Farabi Kazakh National University.

The goal of these intellectual competitions is creation of conditions for identification and support of children gifted in mathematics, development of international education and scientific ties among the participating states. Thus, the Asian Pacific Math Olympiad brings together the representatives of 35 countries of the world this year.

Around 100 Kazakh students are taking part in the olympiads which will last till March 9.
