Almaty mayor meets with Olympic champion Denis Ten

ALMATY. KAZINFORM - Almaty mayor Akhmetzhan Yessimov has received the bronze medalist of the XXII Winter Olympic Games in Sochi Denis Ten at his office today, the mayor's press service informs.

During the meeting, Mr. Yessimov said all Kazakhstanis cheered on Denis during his performance in Sochi. "We all rooted for you and are proud that a resident of Almaty city became the Olympic champion. You're young and many triumphs and victories are ahead. If Almaty wins the right to hold the Winter Olympic Games in 2022, I am sure, you will represent Kazakhstan at the highest level. And we will continue to support you in all your endeavors," he noted.

Denis Ten, in turn, wholeheartedly thanked Almaty mayor for support. "Almaty's bid to host the Winter Olympic Games in 2022 was presented at the Sochi Olympics and all my friends-athletes were really excited and said they are willing to come to Almaty city," the Olympic champion added.

In conclusion, A. Yessimov presented keys to a brand-new Chevrolet Cruze car to Denis.
