Almaty Metro launches Face Pay biometric service

Almaty Metro launches Face Pay system for contactless payment of travel fare, Kazinform News Agency cites the city mayor’s office.

Face Pay terminals were installed at the Abai and Bauyrzhan Momyshuly stations to let the passengers instantly pay for their commute using AI.

The new system ensures fast and secure contactless payment. Passengers look into a camera installed in front of a turnstile. The fare at the amount of 100 tenge is debited to the bank card.

The project is piloted at two stations together with Halyk Bank. Other stations will be gradually connected to the system. The service is available via the bank’s mobile app.
