Almaty records growth in international arrivals by 72%
“972,157 tourists arrived in Almaty in the first six months”, deputy head of the Almaty tourism department Akmaral Yeshchanova told a press conference on the development of tourism in Central Asia, Kazinform News Agency reports.
International arrivals reached 261,571 that is 72.6% more as compared to the previous year, domestic travels rose by 14% to make 710,586.
She said the number of tourists grew by 25.5% with the most travelers arriving from Russia up to 39.2%, followed by 9.2% from China, 7% from India, 6.6% from Turkiye, 3.4 from the U.S., 2.9% from Uzbekistan, 2.8% from Kyrgyzstan, 2.5% from Germany.
Notably, the city registered an increase in tourists from the Middle East.
