Almaty region accounts for around 27% of total foreign fixed investments in country

Almaty region attracted up to 705 billion tenge worth of investments last year alone. This is an almost 11% increase compared to the figure of 2022, Kazinform News Agency cites the press service of the region’s administration office.

According to the region’s administration office, the abundance of industries as well as the high level of investment climate make the region attractive for investments of foreign companies.

Investments in manufacturing stood at almost 130 billion tenge, a 199% year-over-year rise, in 2023. Around 27% of the country’s total foreign investments in fixed capital fall at Almaty region, making it the fourth region in terms of this figure nationwide.

In nine months of 2023, Almaty region attracted 585.9 million US dollars worth of direct investments. Around six thousand jobs with participation of foreign investors have been created and 20 projects with involvement of 703 billion tenge are being underway in the region.

The region is becoming a hub of financial technologies in Central Asia.

The area of Alatau special economic zone has been expanded from 30 thousand to 97 thousand ha to develop production infrastructure and attract investments in fixed capital.

As of today, the region has four industrial zones with a total area of around 1,400 ha.
