Almaty subway likely to be launched next year ? Akim Yessimov

ALMATY. April 10. KAZINFORM. /Dauren Zhailin/ New metropolitan railway will play a big role in traffic relief and environment management. Akim of Almaty Akhmetzhan Yessimov made it public at yesterday?s session on urban development chaired by the President of Kazakhstan.

According to A. Yessimov, in whole KZT 82 billion was utilized during the period of subway construction. ?Today they hold works on laying of routes and interior finish of all seven stations. The underground is planned to be put into operation next year provided that the Government maintains financing?, the Akim said. President Nursultan Nazarbayev commissioned the Government to budget additional KZT 14 billion in the construction, to launch the first branch of the Almaty subway next year.
