Almaty subway lit up ahead of New Year
On the eve of the New Year, festive lights were lit up in the Almaty subway. Stations and subway cars were adorned with illuminations and thematic decorations, creating the New Year's atmosphere for citizens, Kazinform News Agency reports.
Decorated New Year’s trees have been placed at the stations and subway cars have been equipped with cozy holiday corners where passengers can take memorable photographs.
“We want every subway ride to be a little more festive for our passengers. The decorations at the subway stations and in the subway cars are designed to give people a sense of a fairy tale and set them in a festive mood,” the Almaty subway press service said.
Residents and guests of Almaty were delighted to see the festive decorations. They share photos and express their gratitude for the joyful mood on social networks.
The Almaty akimat reported that the city's favorite pedestrian street, Arbat, had been transformed into a bright art object inspired by Carnaby Street in London.
Kazinform News Agency wrote about the ceremony of lighting the main Christmas tree in Almaty.
It was earlier reported that Kazakhstan’s main New Year tree had lit up in Astana.
