Almaty surgery center to present master classes with innovations

ALMATY. July 24. KAZINFORM — The Syzganov National Research Center of Surgery will carry out master classes with the use of innovative technologies on July 26-27 in Almaty, the press service of the medical institution reports.

Thus, on July 27, for the first time in Kazakhstan there will be held intravascular chemoembolization of malignant tumors of liver and liver metastasis of inoperable patients. This operation will not only improve patients' quality of life but will also increase their life expectancy.

The surgical intervention will be maintained by Geert Molyuks, a well-known doctor from Belgium.

Moreover, on July 26 there will be done a unique operation named "Embolization of prostate arteries", which is a minimally invasive treatment for inoperable benign prostatic hyperplasia (BPH). According to statistics, this disease affects roughly every third man after 50 years old. The method involves the intravascular embolization (blockage) of vessels feeding the adenoma of prostate, which does not require extensive surgery and endoscopic approaches.

Georgy Kim, a leading Russian X-ray surgeon from Novosibirsk, will do this operation.
