Almaty to build 4 more metro stations by 2025
Construction of the Kalkaman metro station will conclude in Almaty by 2025 as part of the metro’s third development stage to increase passenger traffic by 20,000 a day, deputy governor of Almaty Askar Amrin said, Kazinform News Agency reports.
Three more metro stations will be built by 2030 to create a large multimodal transport interchange hub connecting the Zapadnyi bus station, LRT station and the metro. Two stations Saryarka and Baurzhan Momyshuly stretching some 3.1 km will raise popularity of the metro and increase passenger traffic.
Currently the metro network includes 11 stations. Last year it carried 70,000 passengers. Today the metro lines serve 100,000 passengers during rush hours.
