Almaty to build new cancer centre

The Kazakh Healthcare Minister, Azhar Giniyat, revealed the plans to battle shortages of hospitals in Almaty, Kazinform News Agency reports.

The minister said the akimat will be new hospitals with the support of the Government. A multi-field hospital with a 500-bed perinatal centre will be constructed in Alau district. Besides, the city plans to build a cancer centre equipped with latest equipment. The national scientific infectious diseases centre will be commissioned next year.

Finance department head Kanat Sukhambekov said this year healthcare spending grew 1.2 billion tenge to repair the existing healthcare facilities and build new ones.

The new general layout of the city provides for the construction of 12 polyclinics by 2025, 15 by 2030, 38 polyclinics, 3 hospitals and 13 in-patient facilities by 2040. 13 specialized in-patient facilities, 25 multi-field hospitals will be also modernized.
