Almaty to host V International Zhautykov Olympiad
ALMATY. January 3. KAZINFORM. /Aigul Turysbekova/ V International Zhautykov Olympiad in physics, mathematics and informatics will start in Almaty on January 15. It will bring together 36 teams from 16 countries of the world. Scientists from eight countries will judge the contest. Bakhytzhan Zhumagulov, rector of the Kazakh National Al-Farabi University, academician of the Kazakh Academy of Sciences, will be a chairman of the judges, Kazinform correspondent reports.
The event is organized by ?Daryn? Republican Scientific-Practical Centre together with O. Zhautykov Republican Specialized Physics-Mathematics boarding-school for gifted children. The International Zhautykov Olympiad is held under the aegis of the Kazakh Ministry of Education and Science with the support of Almaty city administration, Kazakh National Al-Farabi University, Public Fund of the Graduates of the Zhautykov Republican school and sponsors of the Olympiad ? «ExxonMobil Kazakhstan Inc» and «Microsoft Kazakhstan» companies.
This international project was initiated in 2005 and has no analogues in the world. The event covers teams of specialized schools from 16 countries. The Zhautykov Olympiad is of great importance for strengthening cooperation among the friendly states, development of Olympic movement among students and promotion of Kazakhstan's image.
