Almaty to raise spending on landscaping works next year
The city of Almaty will increase spending on landscaping works by 40%, Kazinform News Agency quotes Mayor Yerbolat Dossayev as saying at a session of the municipal maslikhat.
“As part of the Taza Qazaqstan program initiated by President Kassym-Jomart Tokayev, we are taking systemic measures to landscape the city and create more green spaces. These are our priorities in creation of a comfortable urban environment and improving the citizens’ lives,” Dossayev said.
He said that the spending on the landscaping and greening works will be increased by 40% - from 121.6 billion tenge in 2024 to 170.5 billion tenge in 2025.
The city successfully implements the Public Participation Budget program, with 938 projects implemented in the past three years, to the amount of 39.1 billion tenge. 18.8 billion tenge were allocated for this purpose in 2024, and 17.1 billion tenge are envisaged for 2025.
As the mayor noted, the Public Participation Budget became an effective tool of implementation of the citizens’ ideas and initiatives, and the mayor’s office intends to support it.
As part of the program, children’s and sports grounds, courtyards were repaired, new public spaces, pedestrian areas were built and street lighting lines were installed.
