Almost 100 flood-affected families waiting for new housing in N Kazakhstan
99 families, whose houses were severaly damaged by spring floods, are waiting for new housing in Kyzylzhar district of the North Kazakhstan region. Local administration plan to provide them with new apartments before the start of the heating season, Kazinform News Agency reports.
At a meeting of the Public Council, Governor of Kyzylzhar district Alma Nurgaliyeva said that 25 out of 99 families will receive apartments, and 74 ones will receive houses in Birlik micro-district of Petropavlovsk city.
According to Alma Nurgaliyeva, a total of 1,546 houses were flooded in Kyzylzhar district. 407 houses were recognized as dilapidated, and 980 houses need to be repaired. 308 families have already been provided with new housing. Owners of 919 houses received compensation for the repair and restoration works. The average price of repair works is 5.5 million tenge.
Flood damage in the region amounted to 73 billion tenge. 95% of this amount falls on Petropavlovsk and Kyzylzhar district.
