Almost 45 thou children immunized against measles in Kazakh capital

 A total of 44,800 children have been vaccinated against measles in Astana since November 6 last year, Kazinform News Agency correspondent reports. 

According to the Kazakh capital’s chief medical officer Sarkhat Beissenova, the mass measles vaccination of children aged six-10 months began on November 6 last year, and those aged 2-4 starting from last December.

44,800 children (36.5%) have been vaccinated since November 6, including those aged from six to 10 months and 29 days – 8,710 (35.9%), those aged 2-4 – 25,265 (31.7%), and health workers – 5,126 (84.9%), said Beissenova. 

She went on to add that 5,692 kids have been immunized against measles as part of the catch-up vaccination campaign.
