A team of Kyrgyz climbers climbed the highest point in Africa – Kilimanjaro, Kabar reports.

As President of the Russian Mountaineering Federation Eduard Kubatov said, 16 participants successfully reached the summit on January 10, 2024 at 5:42 am.

“The ascent took place in extremely difficult weather conditions! But we made it! Happy mountain friends, I’m immensely proud of you!.. It’s minus 23 degrees here, windy. This is the fourth time I’ve made an expedition to Kilimanjaro, but this is the first time I’ve seen such terrible weather here,” Kubatov noted.

Kilimanjaro is the highest stratovolcano in Africa in northeastern Tanzania, as well as the highest point on the continent - 5895 meters above sea level. Together with the peaks of Chimborazo, Huascaran and Cotopaxi, Kilimanjaro is further from the center of the Earth than Everest.
