Amendments to law on mass media - big step ahead: OSCE Representative on Freedom of Media
ASTANA. February 5. KAZINFORM Kazakh Minister of Foreign Affairs Marat Tazhin and Minister of Culture and Information Mukhtar Kul-Mukhammed received a letter from Miklos Haraszti, OSCE Representative on Freedom of the Media Miklos Haraszti; Kazinform reports.

?It was a pleasure to know that a draft Law ?On amendments to some legislative acts of the Republic of kazakhstan on mass media? was adopted. Me and my colleagues were glad to cooperate with your officials on these amendments. I welcomed a fact that representatives of the civil society were engaged in the process of the bill discussion?, the letter notes.
According to M.Haraszti, the most important amendments are the simplification of registration of print and e-media, exemption of mass media from obligations in provision of evidencies in cases regarding defamation and etc.
?I think that these amendments are the most significant in efforts taken by Kazakhstan in reforming the legislation on mass media?, the OSCE Representative on Freedom of the Media noted.
