American Corner Kostanay welcomed NASA astronauts

ASTANA. November 21. KAZINFORM On November 18, the American Corner Kostanay welcomed quite unique guests to its premises:  several NASA staffers and astronauts Kirk Shierman (Deputy ISS Program Manager), Mark Vande Hei (NASA astronaut, Star City NASA office Director), Kenneth Cockrell (NASA astronaut, NASA pilot), Robert L.Behnken (NASA astronaut, astronaut office Director), and Michael Surber (Director of Human Space Flight Program Director).

They were accompanied by the US Embassy Astana employee Maxim Syssoyev, the US Diplomatic Mission to Kazakhstan said.

The guests told fascinating stories about their space travels, life in space, routine in the spacecraft, and about various challenges and difficulties. The AC was packed with interested patrons, and everyone enjoyed immensely the video about the flight into space where Robert L. Behnken and his colleagues were the pilots. Participants learned that not only men challenge space, but also women do and that they very professionally solve the problems that occur during the flight! It turned out that each of our guests has already been in    space and plan to repeat the experience in the near future.

The meeting evoked lots of positive emotions and impressions. It was not only a great practicing of English language skills, but a unique chance to meet and greet representatives of the romantic and tough profession of astronauts.
