Amirabdollahian: Iran’s ties with Kazakhstan important

Iran’s Foreign Minister Hossein Amirabdollahian has emphasized the importance of relations between his country and Kazakhstan within the Islamic Republic’s neighborly policy, IRNA reports.

Amirabdollahian met on Saturday with Gholamreza Hashemi, the new Iranian consul general to Kazakhstan’s city of Aktau.

The meeting took place in Tehran before Hashemi headed for Aktau to begin his diplomatic mission there.

Also on Saturday, the top diplomat met with Iran’s Ambassador to Tajikistan Alireza Haghighian.

The ambassador briefed the foreign minister on the growing cooperation between the two countries as well as results of the 16th meeting of Iran-Tajikistan Joint Economic Commission that was held recently.

Amirabdollahian said that Tajikistan has an important position in the Islamic Republic’s foreign policy as a friendly country that shares the same language and culture with Iran, stressing the need for further boosting bilateral relations.
