Ancient Taraz project will create new jobs

TARAZ. KAZINFORM - "Ancient Taraz" open air museum will appear soon on the site of the former central market of Taraz town. It was closed in 2011. Archaeological work is in full swing on the territory of the ancient city of Taraz.

According to the press service of the Mayor of Zhambyl region, total investment for the construction of the Archaeological Park "Ancient Taraz" with complete tourist infrastructure will reach 47 billion tenge including private investment - 33 billion tenge. The territory of the park will be more than 20 hectares. There will be a congress hall, world-class exhibition halls, five-star hotels, and restaurants. According to the press service of the regional administration, Ancient Taraz project will employ thousands of people living in Zhambyl region. It should be noted that archaeologists have discovered about 40,000 artifacts dating from VI-XII centuries. There was discovered the medieval citadel, the mosque dated VIII - IX century, madrasas and the altar of the Zoroastrians, the promenade of the ancient riverbed of Talas, foundations of residential buildings. According to the memorandum signed between the Akimat of Zhambyl region and the Ministry of Culture, all found artifacts during the excavation will remain in Taraz town. The palace complexes Akyrtas and Balasagun (the capital of the Western Turkic Khanate VI-VIII cc) of the ancient city of Taraz will be restored in preparation for the 550th anniversary of the Kazakh Khanate. In the future "Ancient Taraz" park will become an international tourist brand of Zhambyl region. The archaeological site is included in the number of cities to be visited by participants and guests of Expo-2017.
