Angela Merkel praises President Nazarbayev for promotion of peaceful settlement of Ukraine crisis

ASTANA. KAZINFORM - President of Kazakhstan Nursultan Nazarbayev has had a telephone conversation with Chancellor of Germany Angela Merkel today, Kazinform has learnt from the president's press service.

Nursultan Nazarbayev and Angela Merkel discussed the Normandy format negotiations of the leaders of Russia, Ukraine, France and Germany in Minsk. The Head of State commended Angela Merkel's tremendous contribution to success of the Minsk peace summit. The German Chancellor, in turn, praised President Nazarbayev for promotion of peaceful settlement of the crisis in Ukraine and asked him to continue these efforts. She also noted the possibility of holding the Normandy format meeting in Astana. The sides also expressed hope that efforts of the Normandy leaders will help settle the ongoing crisis in Ukraine. High level of the Kazakhstani-German cooperation was noted during the telephone conversation as well.
