Anticrisis measures of Kazakh Government, ?Path to Europe? Program discussed in London

KAZINFORM A workshop, organized with the support of the Kazakh Embassy and the International Financial Service of London (IFSL), aimed at discussing measures of the Kazakh Government on stabilization of the economy and ?Path to Europe? Representatives of the Lord Mayor of the London City, the UK Trade and Investment, the London Stock Exchange, the Confederation of British Industry, rating agencies, financial structures, and a range of other companies working with Kazakhstan took part in the workshop. Kazakh Ambassador Kairat Abusseitov briefed the participants on the main provisions of ?Path to Europe? program, informed of the process of preparation for the coming Kazakhstan?s OSCE chairmanship in 2010 and the process of negotiations on Kazakhstan's accession to the WTO . The Kazakh diplomat told about the measures taken by the Kazakh Government on stabilization of the economy and financial system and current political-economic situation in the country. Main aspects of Kazakh-British interaction were discussed as well. In this regard the participants stressed the importance of establishment of the Trade-Industrial Chamber in London, aimed at strengthening trade-economic cooperation between small and medium business of both countries. Representatives of British business circles noted that they kept watch over the situation in Kazakhstan and complimented the complex of measures taken by the Government to stabilize and ensure sustainable economic development within new conditions. The participants were interested in attraction of companies from different sectors of the Kazakh economy to the London Stock Exchange for increase of their capitalization and raise of the level of corporate management. Common opinion on the necessity of extension of trade-economic and investment-innovative cooperation between Kazakhstan and Britain that can contribute to successful realization of ?Path to Europe? program was expressed during the talks.
