Arcelor Mittal under check for compliance with labor legislation

KARAGANDA. KAZINFORM - The Prosecutor's Office of Karaganda region have requested the labor inspectorate to conduct an immediate verification for compliance with labor legislation of the fact of reduction in wages of ArcelorMittal workers, the press service of the agency reports.

As Kazinform previously reported, 30 January 2015 General Director of JSC ArcelorMittal Vijay Mahadevan issued an order providing an actual reduction in wages of workers of the enterprises of the company. The company has temporarily lowered wages to foreign specialists by 50%, local specialists - 25%. The difficult geopolitical situation, the general slowdown in economic growth in the region, unfavorable external environment of market channels have led to the difficult financial situation and lack of cash in the accounts of ArcelorMittal, the press service of the company reported.
