Armed student shoots himself, all hostages released from U.S. high school
According to the report, the hostage taker shot himself when police broke into the classroom. No other injuries were reported.
Police officers entered the Marinette High School classroom after hearing gunshots at about 8 p.m. and then the 15-year-old male armed student shot himself, said Police Chief Jeff Skorik.
The armed student, whose condition remained unknown at the moment, was taken to hospital, Skorik said.
According to earlier reports, all the 24 hostages held by the armed student at the Wisconsin high school have been released unharmed Monday evening.
The hostage crisis lasted more than five hours after the student armed with a gun burst into a classroom of Marinette High School and took 23 classmates and a teacher hostage there.
Skorik announced the development at about 8 p.m. that five out of the 23 students hostage were released. The other hostages then were also released unharmed.
