ASBC Asian Youth & Junior Boxing Championships kicks off in Astana
The ASBC Asian Youth & Junior Boxing Championships kicked off in Astana October 23, Kazinform News Agency reports citing the Ministry of Tourism and Sport.
The event brings together as many as 500 young athletes from 23 countries.
Attending the Grand Opening Ceremony were Minister of Tourism and Sport Yermek Marzhikpayev, ASBC Secretary General Ali Salameh, IBA President Umar Kremlev and President of the Kazakhstan Boxing Federation Kenes Rakishev.
“Boxing, as one of the most popular and spectacular disciplines, has a special place in the hearts of many people and attracts the attention of millions of spectators.
Kazakhstan’s boxing school occupies a worthy place at the world sports arena. Over the years of independence, Kazakhstani boxers have won 7 gold, 7 silver and 10 bronze Olympic medals,” Minister Yermek Marzhikpayev said.
