ASM BioResource Center opens its doors in Almaty
According to the press service of the university, ASM BioResource Centers provide ASM resources and onsite training to students, scientists, faculty, public health professionals and others around the globe. The Centers serve as locations for these beneficiaries to gather and connect through a shared passion for science. With ASM books, journals and online resources available at the Centers, they provide the local community with cutting-edge resources and training. Led by local scientific leaders and in-country partners, the Centers aim to serve as a functional part of the local microbiology community. The honor guests of the event were US Consul General in Almaty Teresa Grenchik, head of the WHO office in Kazakhstan Melita Vuinovich, head of the office of the United States Center for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) in Central Asia David McAlister. T.Grenchik noted that opening of the center in KazNMU reflects increasing effective cooperation between Kazakhstan and the United States in the field of scientific research. "I am very pleased that students and staff have access to the latest literature. ASM has enormous resources and I hope that this will further intensify the process of mutual exchange of information," said D.McAlister.
