As part of the working trip to Turkistan region, Prime Minister Alikhan Smailov signed an agreement with UAE-based Terminals Holding on cooperation in the development of Astana Airport as a multimodal hub, Kazinform News Agency reports citing the press service of the government.

Terminals Holding Group is a fast-growing aviation enterprise serving customers in the promising markets of Asia and Africa, and is also associated with the Abu Dhabi Ports industrial company.

The investor will conduct a comprehensive assessment of the activities of the Astana airport and will take over operational management to improve the quality of passenger service and the efficiency of the air harbor as a whole in the future.

The investor's primary task is to prepare the runway for reconstruction and its further modernization. In view of the preparatory works and a short construction season in Astana, the reconstruction of the ground infrastructure is set to begin next year.

Besides, a long-term business plan for the development of the airport will be compiled, with the consideration of the interests of the state and the private company.

The Ministry of Transport emphasized that cooperation with Terminals Holding will make a significant contribution to the implementation of the tasks outlined by the Head of State in his latest address to the nation on development of Kazakhstani airports as multimodal centers.
