Astana attracted 1.3trln tenge of investments in 2024
Prime Minister Olzhas Bektenov has surveyed metallurgical, light and construction industry, car-making and rail-stock manufacturing enterprises of Astana, Kazinform News Agency reports.
The head of the government checked the process of fulfillment of the President’s instructions on diversification of economy and implementation of investment projects.
When visiting the city’s Industrial Park, the Prime Minister was reported about the capital’s socio-economic development.
According to Deputy Mayor of the city Yevgeny Glotov, in the first half of 2024, the city’s gross regional product reached 5.5 trillion tenge, surpassing the last year’s indicator by 7%.The share of small and medium businesses in the GRP structure is 72%.
From January through October 2024, Astana attracted approximately 1.3 trillion tenge of investments. Meanwhile, the volume of industrial production has increased by 7% compared to 2023.
Olzhas Bektenov inspected production units of LLP Digital Service covering the area of 7,500 square meters. The company produces telecommunications equipment, including modems, switch routers, telephone sets, and stations for home, office and industrial use. After modernization, the capacity of the plant increased to 720,000 units per annum with the possibility of raising the volumes to 805,000 devices. Since its establishment in 2005, the plant has attracted a total of $4.5 million of investments, employing as many as 100 people. The company supplies its products to the domestic market and to Uzbekistan, Azerbaijan, Kyrgyzstan, Russia and Arab countries.
Another enterprise surveyed by the Prime Minister is the Locomotive Assembly Plant, which specializes in the assembly of mainline locomotives. The plant produces up to 120 locomotives per annum. Since its launch, the plant has already assembled 611 locomotives.
The president of the company Marat Tleubayev reported to Olzhas Bektenov that the level of localization at the plant has reached 75%. The total volume of investments is 30 billion tenge, and 742 jobs have been created.
The Prime Minister also visited LLP Ashina KZ sewing factory. The capacity of the factory is 24,000 units of products per annum. The cost of the project is 1.4 billion tenge. 60 people are employed here.
Another industrial facility visited by Olzhas Bektenov was the LLP Tau-Ken Altyn gold refinery specializing in purification of gold from other metals, substances and alloys. Since its launch, the plant has already produced 336.7 tons of purified gold and 64.2 tons of silver. Its yearly capacity is 25 tons of gold and 50 tons of silver. According to Director Ainur Aidarkhanov, the plant actively introduces ESG principles by reducing electricity, water and heat consumption, as well as develops processing of catalysts and wastes which allows to expand the raw materials base and enhance its positions on the market.
As the Prime Minister noted, industrial parks contribute to the development of the country’s industrial sector.
“There are 14 special economic zones and more than 20 industrial parks in Kazakhstan. This experience will be continued and scaled up. Our task is to develop the manufacture of high-value added products, effective use and processing of domestic raw materials. We need to reduce dependence on imports and create new opportunities for the growth of high-value added products,” emphasized Bektenov.
