Astana bridges will gain new design

Over several years bridges "Saryarka" and M-2 have had great traffic load, which has led to natural deterioration of both supporting structures of the bridges and their roadway.
As it was reported to astana.kz in the Administration of passenger transport and motor roads, repair of the bridges will add peculiar and accentuated beauty to the city architecture, and increase safety and robustness of bridge crossings.
Thus, on "Saryarka" bridge with the length of 220 m, 440 linear meters of barrier curbs will be replaced by granite fronted barrier railings. 544 line meters of steel railings and 20 outside illumination poles will be replaced by cast-iron ones. It's planned to renew approximately 6 000 sqm of asphalt covering. In addition, according to the agency, construction of viewing platforms with decorative elements will be provided on the bridge.
In turn, repair works on M-2 bridge with the length of 700 meters provide for replacement of 2160 line meters of barrier curbs by granite fronted barrier railings. Also, 1500 meters of steel railings and 30 illumination poles will be replaced by cast-iron ones. The main front face of the bridge construction will also be changed.
"Architectural and sculptural compositions of the bridges will add rich historical and cultural heritage of the Kazakh people and nomadic civilization. Stylistic figures are about artistic works of the Scythian decorative art", - they reported in the agency.
Thus, architectural and sculptural compositions of ladders are being placed on land abutments to "Saryarka" bridge. The central element of each composition is a spherical cancellated stele which is to be decorated by depicting of the flora of Kazakh steppes. Trellis-work of the sphere and ornament on curbstones of illumination poles will be painted gold.
This transferes unique lapidary variety of the Scythian art and, first of all, symbolizes the location of the capital on "Saryarka", the "Gold steppe". Such colour also reflects the name of the bridge "Saryarka", - they told to astana.kz in the Administration.
Four steles will be places on M-2 bridge which will be of architectural function and have deep historical and cultural meaning.
"Steles will be situated on bridge piers, two on each side. When reaching the bridge, this composition will be seen as front solemn gate to the central part of Astana city", - they note in the agency.
All stele elements are produced similarly with works of Scythian applied art. The stele surface will be formed of ornamental sculptural trellis-work, elements of which will be gold, which can be associated with Scythian jewellery. Poles of the balustrade will be in a form of lamps depicting saiga heads.
