Astana commissions 400-bed dormitory
Six more student dormitories for almost 4,500 beds are under construction in the city, Kazinform News Agency cites the official website of the Kazakh capital’s administration office.
The 400-bed dormitory opened with the support of the front office of the administration office of Astana on the occasion of the International Youth Day.
Attending the opening ceremony were deputy mayor of Astana Yesset Baiken, chairman of the maslikhat of Astana Yerlan Kanalimov, director of Bastau Damu kz Arman Khalelov, rector of the Gumilyev Eurasian National University Yerlan Sydykov, and chairman of the board of the Financial Center Askar Ibraimov.
It is worth noting that the number of students coming to the Kazakh capital rises year by year. With a total of over 40 university dormitories for 16 thousand beds, the city still lacks 6,400 dormitory beds.
Six dormitories for almost 4.5 thousand beds are set to be commissioned this year in the city, with two more to be opened in 2025. Over 1,800 dormitory beds were created in the city last year.
It was noted that the local administration allocated land plots to four universities for construction of dormitories.
The city seeks to build dormitories as part of the Head of State’s instruction to address the shortage of beds at student dormitories.
