Astana Cyclist Yerlan Pernebekov dies in Ecuador

ASTANA. KAZINFORM - "Astana" team cyclist Yerlan Pernebekov has died in Ecuador, the press service of the Kazakhstan Cycling Federation reports.

According to the statement, the young man was in a training camp in Ecuador with his teammates. March 14, after a regular workout Pernebekov complained of severe headache and was immediately taken to a hospital. As explained by doctors, the athlete had a stroke which occurred because of vein bust. "Astana" cycling team express their heartfelt condolences to Yerlan's family. His death is a huge loss not only for the team, but for the Kazakh cycling sport", the message reads.
