Astana Imam congratulates Kazakhstanis on Nauryz holiday

ASTANA. March 18. KAZINFORM /Damir Baimanov/ Imam Kalizhan Zankoev of the Astana city Mosque congratulated Kazakhstanis on upcoming Nauryz holiday.

The spiritual leader has said that Nauryz is not a religious holiday. "Nauryz is a holiday that Kazakh people have celebrated since ancient times. People rejoice the spring coming. This is the time when day and night are equal length, when number of cattle rapidly increases. This is a holiday of happiness and accord," the Imam said in the interview with journalists.

According to him, Nauryz should be perceived as a nationwide holiday uniting people of different nations and confessions. This holiday should be perceived as a day of people's uniting and accord.
