Astana Media Week kicks off in Kazakhstan
A solemn opening of the annual Astana Media Week was held at the Kazmedia Centre in the Kazakh capital, Kazinform News Agency reports.
Kazakh Vice Minister of Culture and Information Kanat Iskakov read out the congratulatory letter on behalf of Minister Aida Balayeva.
The Minister said this year Astana Media Week's theme 'Media Influence and Digital Harmony' once again emphasizes the information-driven significance of social changes in the new technological epoch. Media plays a great role in daily life that contributes not only to the dissemination of information but also to the development of culture that forms public opinion. Aida Balayeva noted digital technologies are rapidly developing elevating trends to a new level to further increase the influence of media. These trends raise the skills of media specialists and reveal new horizons. The Astana Media Week became a professional platform to debate pressing issues and bring together media leaders, professionals and experts.

The three-day event features discussions on training experts amid ever-changing requirements of the media market and a lecture on AI and digital technologies' influence on media, closed-door pitch sessions, networking, an interactive session on the new draft law On Media, etc. It draws the participation of international media organizations, including DW, NHK, ABU, CGTN, TRT, Setanta Sports, etc.
One of the highlights of the event is the Content Market slated for September 25 and 26 to present projects of TV channels and production companies of Kazakhstan.
A solemn awarding ceremony of the Best Press Service award will be held on September 27. Workshops for press secretaries on media innovations, the role of national identity, and the ethics of digital communications will be held as part of the Astana Media Week.
Last year the mass media legislation was one of the most debated issues at the Astana Media Week.
