Astana population may reach 800, 000 by 2012

ASTANA. November 26. KAZINFORM /Zhanna Korkitova/ About 800 thousand people will live in Astana by 2012, Chief expert for repatriates and refugees of the Internal Affairs Department of Astana Beimbet Akululy said it at a conference on "Migration in Kazakhstan: problems and solutions" today.

According to him, 720 thousand people are living in the capital city to date. In 1,5-2 years the number of the population may reach 800 thousand by 2012.

As statistics shows, over 9 months of 2010 the administration for migration policy of the municipal Internal Affairs Department has registered 67, 324 foreigners that is 8, 973 higher against the last year index (58, 351 in 2009). The majority of them are from the CIS countries - 59, 040. 4, 262 are from Turkey and 1, 335 are from China.
