39-year-old British Mark Cavendish, representing Astana Qazaqstan Team, bid farewell with a victory in the Tour de France Prudential Criterium in Singapore, Kazinform News Agency correspondent reports.
Mark Cavendish, one of the most successful sprinters in cycling history, announced on Saturday that this would be his final race before ending his professional career.

Sunday will be the final race of my professional cycling career. I am lucky enough to have done what I love for almost 20 years and I can now say that I have achieved everything that I can on the bike. Cycling has given me so much and I love the sport, I’ve always wanted to make a difference in it and now I am ready to see what the next chapter has in store for me, wrote Mark Cavendish in his Instagram post.
British Mark Cavendish joined Astana Qazaqstan Team in early 2023. Starting out his professional career in 2005, Mark Cavendish holds a record of 35 victories in Tour de France stages, 17 victories in Giro d'Italia stages, 4 victories in Vuelta a España stages as well as one-day victories at Milan–San Remo and world championships.
