Astana Qazaqstan Team introduces its trainees

Starting from August 1st, Astana Qazaqstan Team is inviting four riders to join as trainees, three of whom will join the WorldTour team, while one will become part of the continental team, Kazinform News Agency cites Astana Qazaqstan Team's press service.

The riders joining the WorldTour team are:

Declan Trezise (22 years old, Australia), who specializes in one-day races. His key results this year include a victory at the Ronde van Overijssel, second place in a stage of the Alpes Isère Tour and fifth place in the Australian U23 road race Championships.

Jesus Miguel Goyo (20 years old, Venezuela) won the individual time trial and placed fourth in the road race at the U23 Venezuelan Championships this season.

Ivan Smirnov (25 years old, neutral athlete), a track cyclist, on the road specializes in sprint one-day races. In 2024, he secured several victories in races of the Spanish national calendar, and last season, he achieved wins and podium finishes in the Italian national calendar races.

Joining the Astana Qazaqstan Development Team, the continental team, is:

Lev Gonov (24 years old, neutral athlete), a track cyclist, on the road he is specializing in flat and hilly one-day races. He has several victories and podium finishes in races of the Spanish and Italian national calendars.

“In the second part of the season, as usual, we want to test several riders in races within our WorldTour and continental teams. These riders have shown potential, performing well in amateur races, at the youth level or on the track. Now, they will have the chance to prove themselves at a higher level. In just a few days, Declan Trezise will compete in Norway, and Lev Gonov will race in two events in Romania. We are also finalizing the race calendar for the other riders”, – said Alexandr Vinokurov.
