Astana-Temirtau 178 km road construction starts

ASTANA. July 2. KAZINFORM - Today has started the construction of a 178 km road called Astana - Temirtau. This is the most emergency section of the highway, where annually 50 accidents with dozens of victims are reported.

"This stretch of road is very important, it will connect Astana with the industrial regions of Karaganda. You are aware of the fact that Kazakhstan is located between Asia and Europe, China and Russia. Transit potential of the country is very high, and therefore the Government attaches great importance to the transport infrastructure. From year to year, the funding of roads and railways is growing. This year more than two thousand kilometers of roads will be constructed and repaired. It is an international corridor called "Astana-Kostanay - Chelyabinsk", and it is "Western Europe - Western China" mega-project. It may be noted that only in Kyzyl-Orda region there are 800 kilometers of new roads, " said in an interview at the official start of construction the Prime Minister Serik Akhmetov.

As stated by him, all these roads are built using completely new technology. This is a concrete strip, thickness of which reaches 30 centimeters. New four-lane road is to meet all European standards.

"This year following the instructions of the Head of State there will begin construction of a new road that will connect the capital with the south - Astana-Almaty, through Karaganda, with the east - Astana-Pavlodar, Semey and further to Ust-Kamenogorsk, and with the West - Astana-Arkalyk-Atyrau. These are big projects that will create a whole national road network as well as Beineu - Zhezkazgan and Arkalyk - Shubarkul that are already completing the national rail network, " said the Prime Minister of Kazakhstan.
