ASTANA. July 30. KAZINFORM It looks like the fact that Amsterdam is called the city of bicycles somehow bothers Astana. The Kazakh capital has embarked on a campaign to raise the number of bike riders in the city by constructing nearly 75 kilometers of new cycle tracks, web portal astana.kz. says.

"According to the master plan of the city which was approved by a government decree back in 2011, it is planned to have fully constructed cycle tracks by 2030," a statement said.

Cycle tracks, ramps and bicycle rentals will be available in the Kazakh capital in the nearest future.

"It is also planned to construct three types of cycle tracks: separate paths (for the movement of cyclists only), cycle tracks along public roads (separated by concrete barrier or marking) as well as bike lanes as part of sidewalk (separated by marking or curb)," the web portal adds.

Special places for bike storage will be arranged as well.
