Astana to hold IV Civil Forum on Nov 23-24

sp;ASTANA. November 21. KAZINFORM. November 23-24 Astana will host the IV Civil Forum; the Astana Akimat's press service told Kazinform.

The forum is held on the threshold of Kazakhstan's chairmanship in the OSCE. Its main tasks will be to demonstrate achievements of the Kazakh nongovernmental organizations, inform world community of the level of civil society development in Kazakhstan, define directions of joint activities between the state and NGOs in terms of the world economic crisis as well as determine priorities of civil society development for 2010-2011.

A number of recommendations on further improvement of social services commissioning will be worked out within the forum. Traditionally the forum is held once every two years. The number of participants this year exceeds 700 including the representatives of 10 foreign NGOs from China, India, France, Romania, Bulgaria and Azerbaijan.

The I Civil Forum was held in 2003 with the participation of Kazakhstan President Nursultan Nazarbayev.
