Astana to host first-ever ITTF-Asian Table Tennis Championships

The Kazakh capital of Astana is to host the ITTF-Asian Table Tennis Championships for the first time, Kazinform News Agency cites the press service of the Kazakh capital’s administration office.

The 27th ITTF Asian Table Tennis Championships 2024 set to take place from October 6 to 13, is to bring 210 athletes from 26 countries.

Among the participants will be Olympic men’s mixed doubles gold medalist, four-time champion of the world Wang Chuqin of China, Olympic women’s team silver medalists Miwa Harimoto and Miu Hirano of Japan, Olympic gold and silver medalist Sun Yingsha of China, Olympic women’s mixed doubles gold medalist Mima Ito of Japan as well as Olympic men’s team bronze winner Tomokazu Harimoto of Japan.

Team Kazakhstan is to include participant of Rio 2016, Tokyo 2020 and Paris 2024 Olympics Kirill Gerassimenko, 2020 Olympics participant Anastassiya Lavrova, winner of the Youth Championships in the men’s mixed doubles Alan Kurmangaliyev, winners of different international tournaments Sarvinoz Mirkadirova, Zauresh Akashyeva and others.

The participants of the 27th ITTF Asian Table Tennis Championships 2024 are to vie in men’s and women’s singles, doubles, team and mixed events.
