Astana to host I CIS Pedagogical Congress in 2009 - Minister of Education

KAZINFORM  /Aigul Turysbekova/ Despite the economic crisis, educational system of Kazakhstan experiences stable and consistent development, Minister of Education and Science Zhansseit Tuimebayev has said at the August Conference of the Workers of Education in Almaty today. The theme of the conference is Quality of education as a condition for ensuring stable development and competitiveness of Kazakhstan.

Deputies of the Majilis of the Parliament, Akim of Almaty city Akhmetzhan Yessimov, akims of the districts, rectors of the leading universities, local executives, representatives of municipal services and NGOs are among the conference participants.

The Minister focused on the main indices of the country's educational system. Thus, by the educational development index Kazakhstan ranked the first among 121 countries of the world. "Out country ranks the seventh by the results of the international comparative research leaving behind such countries as the USA, Germany and China. It is worth noticing that Kazakhstan participated in this research for the first time. Our country will be the first CIS country to host the 51^st International Mathematical Olympiad in 2010 in Astana. First pedagogical congress of the CIS is expected to be held in Kazakhstan this year", Z. Tuimebayev noted.

The Minister also pointed out the growing number of kindergartens, network of vocational schools and colleges. 105 schools are planned to be built by the end of the year. 46 of them will be completed by September 1. KZT 27 bln were allotted for the first time from the national budget for capital repair of schools.
