AstraZeneca, which has a 15-year-long history of cooperation with Kazakhstan, stuck a memorandum of cooperation with the country’s health ministry to localize the production of four types of pharmaceuticals this year.

As a matter of priority, we focus on socially significant diseases such as cardiological, endocrinological, chronic diseases of kidneys and oncological ones. According to the plan, the production is to be launched in the next three years, Maria Shipuleva, head of AstraZeneca’s representation office in Kazakhstan, said.

She went on to add this year the company plans to increase the number of personnel in Kazakhstan to up to 200 people with further increase.

According to Kazakh health minister Azhar Giniyat, foreign investors operating in Kazakhstan have the opportunity to enter the Central Asian and EAEU markets.

Kazakhstan takes interest in studying the experience and promote cooperation with Sweden. The country, which started cooperation in healthcare with Kazakhstan in the 1990s, was among the first countries to assist independent Kazakhstan in developing its healthcare system.

Swidish ambassador to Kazakhstan Ewa Polano also noted close cooperation between Sweden and Kazakhstan, with the former country willing to share its experience in providing primary health care, in terms of which the country enters the top-three. Both countries also seek opportunities to develop cooperation between universities.
