Atyrau joins World Energy Cities Partnership

ATYRAU. October 19. KAZINFORM /Andrei Sokolov/ Candidacy of Atyrau city has been unanimously approved as a new member of the World Energy Cities Partnership (WECP) in Calgary, Canada. Atyrau is one of the CIS states, which have joined in the WECP.

"Atyrau will take part as a permanent member of this Organization at an upcoming session of the WECP Secretariat in Houston in May, 2010", Atyrau Mayor Salimzhan Nakpayev said.

The Atyrau delegation was invited in Calgary for participation in the WECP Annual General Meeting. This Partnership unites 15 cities of leading oil countries. At the session the Kazakh delegation carried out presentation of Atyrau, paying attention to contribution of the city and Atyrau oblast to Kazakhstan's energy economy.
